“I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and Last,
the Beginning and the End.” John 1:1
To quote Maria in The Sound of Music, “when you read you begin with A, B, C…when you sing you begin with Do, Re, Me.”
Everything must have a beginning, a place to start. Genesis 1 describes for us the beginning of the world as we know it. The earth started out void and dark but as God spoke, light came to the earth and then day by day the rest of creation. Jesus was there at creation. He was part of it.
Scripture also tells us that Jesus will be here for the end of the world as we know it. Jesus will return for those who hold Him as Lord. At that time Jesus won’t come as a child but as King and Lord of all.
One of the most amazing things is that Jesus is in the middle too. When the time was right God sent Jesus to earth to walk in the midst of human beings. Jesus is also right here with us when we call on Him and allow Him to lead us and walk with us through the Holy Spirit.
We know Jesus was there at the beginning of the world, but is He there at the beginning of your day?
Do you spend any part of your morning asking the Lord to be with you and the Spirit of the Lord to fill you?
At the end of the day do you fall into bed without reflecting on the goodness of the Lord throughout your day and asking for the forgiveness of your sins through the blood of Jesus?
The Christmas season is filled with many wonderful traditions and events. Unfortunately there is danger in becoming too busy or too tired to spend time with the Lord whom we celebrate this time of year.
Let’s make a special effort to spend a few moments at the beginning and end of our days with Jesus, the Alpha and Omega.
